Minnie Holyer-Smith
Kirsty Gray sent through 3 marriages she found in the Edmonton Marriage Challenge. Two were children of Zachariah Hollier, the Collector of Rates/Taxes. The third was a marriage of Minnie Holyer-Smith to George Holloway which took place at Enfield in 1897. I've always wondered who she was. It now seems she was born Minnie Holyer Smith in 1876 in Wandsworth, daughter of Richard and Emma Smith. But so far, I cannot see the Holyer connection.
Veronica Hollier
Veronica Hollier (née Crane) has been doing some research in conjunction with Kerry Ann Hollier. Kerry Ann reports that Veronica has discovered that William Goode Hollier's wife married a second time and had more children. Interesting to fill in these side branches of the Sharnford Holliers. William Goode Hollier (1855-1892) was the publican at the Three Pots Inn in Burbage.
Oxfordshire Wills
Carol Eden has managed to acquire copies of many Oxfordshire Hollier wills, after her trip to the Oxford Record Office. This may assist piecing together the early families at Deddington and Charlton on Otmoor.
Paul Hollyer
A contact over many years, Paul Hollyer contacted me to say he would be getting married on 31st August. He also wondered about the possibility of a Hollyer get-together. What do you think? Paul, like me, descends from the Kent Holyers, adopting the Hollyer spelling in the late 19th century.
