Witney Marriage Challenge

David Bright sent through one marriage entry found in the Witney Marriage Challenge. Hannah Hollier married William Palmer at Handborough in 1851. But she doesn't give her deceased father's name, so she remains a mystery. The only Holliers in Handborough, OXF, in the 1851 census were a stray family from the North; really part of the Ollier family (even if the Head of the family quotes his birthplace as Lincoln!). I can't find Hannah in either the 1851 or 1861 censuses.

Kerry Ann Hollier

Kerry Ann, who has been researching the Sharnford Holliers e-mailed me suggesting that the Percy Hollier (ancestor of Vanessa Glowacka, see March entry) might be connected with Percy Hollier from the Sharnford Hollier group.

eBay

Bought a copy of the booklet "The Brine Baths of Droitwich" on eBay. Must have been written in the early 1920s, not long before its author, Joseph Henry Hollyer, the manager of the Brine Baths, died in 1926, after which his son Henry Berkeley Hollyer took over.

Currently, some WW1 and WW2 medals are on eBay, from Henry William Hollyer (1897-1962) and his brother Arthur Ernest Hollyer (1908-1993). I did think the WW1 medals might have been their father, another Henry William (1863-1947) but I think he was too old to have served in WW1.

Kristy Hollier

Kristy Hollier from Melbourne made contact. I wonder where she fits in? Chances are, it will turn out to be the Sydenham Holliers - the origin of most Australian Holliers.
