Philip Smith

Philip contacted me via the website. He is the son of Sheela Smith whom I corresponded with in 1997. Sheela in turn was the daughter of Hilda Gwen Hollyer (1880-1974), the 8th child of William Perring Hollyer's family. Philip has some interesting Hollyer material from this family of artists.

Sundry Correspondence

Carol Eden sent though some further research from Oxfordshire wills. Lots of interesting if slightly speculative thoughts on the early families at Deddington and Charlton on Otmoor.

Jacqueline Wright sent through some WW1 medal cards - she was looking for Edward William Hollier (c1888-1956) who was born in India and followed his father Edward into the Worcestershire Regiment. Jacqueline had bought his victory medal on eBay, not realising, initially, that he was part of her Sharnford Holliers.

Michael Hollier acknowledged my e-mail informing him of the possible link, found via the Oxfordshire wills, that might connect the Lewknor family back to the Deddington family. Where can we go next on this theory? DNA testing would be one route!

Celia Dodd, another Guild member, sent through some information that Harold March Hollier (3 June 1897- 11 Aug 1983) had co-published a book about the 13th London Regiment (The Kensingtons). She also enclosed a newspaper cutting about Dr Michael Hollier, who works with BT.
