Suzanne Hollyer and the Michigan Hollyers

Suzanne Hollyer from Pontiac, Michigan e-mailed to say hello. She is one of the Hollyers from Detroit that are descendants of Alexander Hollyer (1830-1900) [see photo] who emigrated to the USA in 1851. Initially Alexander lived in New York and was part of the piano making firm of Steedman & Hollyer, but by 1878 he had settled in Boston. His son Samuel Joseph (1859-1932) moved to Detroit sometime before 1887 to work for Studebakers and raised a family of 7, one of whom, Richard Lawrence (1902-1969) was Suzanne's grandfather. Another son, Robert Nelson Hollyer (1895-1972) was in the telephone business and was the grandfather of Jim Hollyer, now living in Hawaii, who has helped me with many of the Hollyer families in the USA. His sister Nancy has been to England on a number of occasions and I have been able to show her some of the places in London associated with this Hollyer family.
